PURA Strengthens Postal Regulation Capacity Through Visit to PTT Türkiye
The Gambia Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) delegation, led by Director General Dr. Njogou L. Bah, embarked on a benchmarking visit to PTT, Türkiye’s state postal operator, where they were received by the General Manager, Mr. Hakan Gülten, and his management team.
During the visit, PTT delivered a presentation on its 185-year history, operational framework, innovative initiatives, collaboration with private sector operators, and its working relationship with the Ministry of Communications and the postal regulator. The delegation was also taken through a guided tour of PTT’s facilities.
As PURA prepares to regulate the postal sector in The Gambia, the engagement with PTT provided important insights into effective regulation, sustainability, and innovation within a competitive postal market. The delegation signed and sealed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Information and Communications Authority (BTK) on Wednesday, 24th December 2025 to strengthen cooperation between the two regulators.
