PURA Hosts Stakeholders on Distributed Generation and Net Metering



Tuesday, 24th March 2026, The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority hosted a delegation from Sustainable Energy Africa (SEA), South Africa, alongside key national stakeholders under the Distributed Generation (DG) Support Programme.
The meeting marked the first consultation between Gambian stakeholders and Sustainable Energy Africa, providing updates on the status of Net Metering implementation in The Gambia and outlining the support available under the DG Support Programme to strengthen capacity and regulatory frameworks.
The engagement brought together representatives and focal persons from PURA, the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), the Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines (MOPEM), Sustainable Energy Africa (SEA), and the World Bank Group.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration, addressing implementation challenges, and advancing distributed generation initiatives to support sustainable energy development in The Gambia.
PURA remains committed to promoting effective regulation and partnerships that enhance innovation, efficiency, and service delivery in the energy sector.
