PURA and NARUC host 3rd Renewable energy Dialogue Forum
The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority of The Gambia (PURA) and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) are jointing organising the 3nd National Renewable Energy Dialogue Forum. The theme this year is Policy for Small Scale Renewable Energy Regulation and the event would be held on June 18 and 19 2014, at the Kairaba Hotel.
The forum is organized by PURA annually together with NARUC through part-funding from USAID. It is designed to further dialogue on national level policy on clean energy and to increase stakeholder collaboration (i.e. regulatory authority, Ministry of Energy, industry, utilities, academics, etc.) in identifying tangible steps in further promoting renewable energy in The Gambia.
Topics to be covered in the forum include:
i.Recently Enacted RE law
ii.The Gambia’s Proposed Feed in Tariffs
iv.RE in the tourism sector
v.Standards for RE installations
It is anticipated that participation from 50-60 stakeholders from across The Gambia as well as experts from regulatory commissions in the US states of California and Hawaii. Furthermore regulators from Tanzania & Kenya have been invited to present case studies and their experience with RE promotion in their respective countries. The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency has also been invited.
